Ridge: The ridge of a roof is the peak where two opposing roof planes meet. Ridge as the “highest point on a roof, represented by a horizontal line where two roof areas intersect, running the length of the area.” So the ridge is basically the peak of a roof, but ridge also refers to the board or beam that is used in building the ridge.

Gutter: Gutters are the horizontal metal (usual aluminum) part of the system that is usually installed along the eave edges of your roof, or along with roof features like dormers. Gutters are open at the top to catch rainwater flowing off the roof, directing it into the downspouts.

Downspouts are the vertical, closed sections of the gutter system that direct the water from the roof to ground level.

End Trim: It protects your roof and wall panels from moisture and the elements while adding visual interest to your building in the form of contrasting colors or interesting trim shapes. Roofing Accessories Types

Gable End Flashing: The rake is not exactly on the roof. It is a term that describes the sloped sides of the gable end. The rake can be flat with no overhang, or it can overhang the gable end like an eave. The overhanging rake then is closed in with soffit and fascia or left open.

Corner Flashing: Flashing is intended to decrease water penetration at objects such as chimneys, vent pipes, walls, windows and door openings to make buildings more durable and to reduce indoor mold problems. Eve End Flashing: The strip of metal flashing that runs under the roof along the eaves of your house is called eave strip or drip edge. Eave strips help support the roofing that extends past the roof decking and keeps rainwater from running down the fascia board. On many homes, the drip edge eave strip is made of galvanized metal, which doesn’t hold paint well and can rust over time.
